Jim and I attended church this morning. After church our WELCA group met. Started planning for Lenten services and our church will host the spring cluster meeting in April. Sure was hard to find a date to work with everyone. Hopefully the date we picked will be free with pastor. Once home Jim napped and I sorted through Michelle and Joey's wedding pictures. Put a few on a flash drive that I want to print. Judy Scheiffer and I are going to Dickinson for supper. So I will print off some pictures; I'm excited to get them into the frame and hung in the hallway. Other than church and a date for supper I haven't done a thing, even kind of slept through the football game.

Yo-Yo weather
This has been called the year of the Yo-Yo. The weather has just been crazy this winter. One day upper 30's the next wind chills of -40. I don't recall ever having such bi-polar weather. Everyone seems to be battling colds and I say it is due to the changes in weather. Yesterday we had winds around 50 MPH all day long across the whole state. The western half was lucky that the snow was crusted over, so we didn't experience blizzard like conditions like the eastern part of the state. Heard many reports of damage from Minot to Bismarck, roofs blown off of apartments to bill boards blown over.
Mother Nature I wish you would find a happy spot to leave us.

Windy
The weather over the last few days has been wonderful! Mid 30's and little wind. Woke up this morning to a wind advisory. By 3:00 PM the wind was starting to pick up. It is pretty windy this evening. The wind advisory is in affect until Tuesday morning. As long as it doesn't get to chilly I will be fine. That week of below zero was crazy.
Busy Week
My very busy week has came to a close! Three home basketball games and a church annual meeting complete.
The games went very well - last night the girls played New Town and I swear 90% of Beach was at the game and 50% of New Town must have been there. We ran out of almost all of our beverages last night. We went through a roaster and half of taco meat 60 pretzels and 7 pizzas last night. Crazy busy.
Annual meeting at church went well. Nothing major planned for 2014. 2013 the church seen many improvements. The basement is about complete in a makeover. New carpet and paint job. Everything is looking bright and clean. The office purchased a new color copier - it's funny how happy that makes me! It prints so nice and clear and much faster than the last one. Jim and I were elected to the church conference this year. It will be in June at Bismarck. Will hopefully have time to see Brody and play with him. Might take the church up on a hotel and have Brody come swimming!
Hoping for sleep tonight after the very busy weekend and need to be ready to face a new week of work!
Peace to all

Don't Dare Me!
We had a home basketball game tonight, which I'm a junior class advisor and help with the concession stand. I have made good acquaintances with many of the youth at the high school through this job. It is fun, for the most part, to work with these kids. The high school also has a school spirit store, The Buckle, I decided to take a look at some of the new items. While in there one of our current juniors and one of the senior boys decided it would be fun to dress me up as a buccaneer. As you can imagine it was a slow night for them! They got me all dolled up in the latest Buccaneer gear and dared me to run out in front of our crowd and cheer. Oh, right up my alley!! The crowd loved it and the 5 boys from the store couldn't believe that I actually did it. My hubby couldn't either. He told the neighbors he felt sorry for my second husband - lol.
Wish I had a picture to share :)

Epiphany
Today is the day that Christians celebrate the arrival of the Three Wise men. My great aunt Ellen always told me that this is the end of the Christmas season and no decorations should come down until after Epiphany. I have followed her advise my adult life. Sometimes the decorations end up staying up a little to long. Jim's birthday is March 9th - he starts riding me hard if they are still up around his birthday. There have been a year or two where they have came down on March 8th! I told him that is his birthday gift. Well having the day off from school due to the frigid wind chill, I decided this would be the day to get the decorations down. Jim will be so surprised when he gets home to see the living room back to normal. I do miss the lights of the tree, that is the hardest for me to get used to. I just love waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the living room lit with the lights from the tree. I used to love rocking the babies at night with the lights shining, maybe that is why I kept them up so long.

Brr!
The weather man seems to never be wrong on the wind or the cold this year. Woke up to -19 with wind chills pushing close to -60. Our outside dog, Maggie, got to spend the night in the house last night. She likes to come in for a little bit so last night it took her awhile to settle down and not cry to get back out. She was very ready to get outside this morning at 7. She hasn't came back to the door yet. She doesn't have several bales of straw she like to cuddle into. She will have to come back in shortly again to warm back up. Wibaux's Lutheran church had cancelled church on Friday afternoon, the church at Beach waited until this morning to cancel. It's just to cold to venture outside, no need to have the people out running around. The wind has came up quite a bit in the last half hour. I thought at 7 when I got up that maybe we won't get that strong of the wind they were talking about - but here it is. The State of Minnesota has cancelled school for tomorrow, our governor has just told the schools to use their best judgment. I guarantee that we will have school tomorrow. Beach hardly ever cancels school. I could use another day at home - LOL. I have truly enjoyed Christmas break this year - two full weeks. We were blessed that all the girls were able to come for Christmas Eve. We all attended church service and enjoyed a wonderful prime rib supper then opened gifts. Christmas Day Jim, Kelly, and I enjoyed watching Christmas movies and just chilling. Six o'clock in the evening I took off for Bismarck to babysit Brody for 2 days. We had a blast!! Love that little boy! New Year's Eve Jim and I went to Mark and Dawn Egan's it was a great time of visiting with a lot of friends we hadn't seen in some time. New Year's Day we stayed home as the weather wasn't to good. January 2nd we went to Bismarck to see Denise and wish her a happy birthday and treat them to supper. Love having breaks so that I can see my girls. We did make a trip to Glendive to visit Patty and Brayden too. They live the closest and we don't get to visit them as often it seems.
Proud State!
Yesterday, January 4, 2014, the NDSU Bison won their 3rd NCAA Division Football Championship in Frisco, Texas. I don't think there were not many North Dakotan's that weren't in front of a TV if not in Frisco watching the game.
Jim and I went over to Dave and Tammy Wegner's home for a football party. The game started out back to back touchdowns for each team. Then after the first quarter the Bison found their spot and it became our game! The Bison didn't let Townsen score again - final score 35 to 7.

Winter
We have had the strangest weather this winter. One day we can be around 40 above and the very next day it will drop to - 30 and then add in the wind chill we can be at-40. The weather man is reporting that tomorrow we could experience wind chills as low as -60. On our way home last night we had to purchase our outside dog, Maggie, a kennel for inside. Poor gal would totally freeze if we don't get her in. Also for this afternoon we are in a blizzard warning. It's 38 right now and a clear sky - go figure that the weather will do a complete 360 in less than 12 hours. Stay warm and safe everyone.
